How we work:
Each step should be approved before proceeding.1. Initial meeting: gather information
What is the purpose of the site?
Who is the expected audience?
What is the feeling of your product, organization, service. . .?
What are your financial parameters?
Who will we be working with?2. Design of site plan and estimate of price
Establish the hierarchies of pages.
It is important the layout be well thought out and firmed up in the beginning as once the site is up and search engines and visitors begin to link to it, the links shouldn't be broken by changing the basic layout.3. Approval of design for “look and feel”
This includes both the over all look of your site —how it communicates your identity to a visitor—and the design of the navigation. The visitor must be comfortable with the workings of a site or they will leave quickly. This affects the trust with your organization.
4. Design actual content: copy and images
5. Preparation of content: Copy writing and creating images
People acquire information on the web differently than from other sources. They bring a different mind set to the screen than to the printed page. Copy must be prepared with this in mind. (Simply uploading copy and images as they are used in a flyer is called “shoveling” and not as effective as adapting it for the web.) Images must be formatted for speed of downloading. Color behaves differently etc.
6. Construction of pages, including SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Site architecture influences:
Ease and speed of traditional visitor experience
Accessibility for non traditional usage
Ease of updating contributing to time and cost effectiveness
7. Testing
8. Uploading and celebrating!
